I am subscribed to bugs and this caught my eye, (by accident while tagging this
bug by mistake I deleted) I have similar problem.
I went to forums two weeks ago and posted this question to this problem but no
one answered. thread link:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1753762

No matter what kernel I boot into makes no difference, note also does
not work on PCLinuxOS 2011 Gnome

Interesting that "Hard Info" detects Card Reader...All controllers are
detected as well

"n my title I've wrote that my Asus does not read/see SD Card

However the "Hard info" detects SD/MMC Card Reader

Asus G73Jw
Card Reader-8 in 1 card reader SD,SDXC,MMC,MS,MS-Pro,MS-Duo
I trust it is Realtek

My Ubuntu 10.04 x64 Rocks, everything works including all the tricks with the
Compiz. All the contoolers seems to work fine too.
the SD Card is very handy especially when you switch between OS's

All from what I googled I'm getting answers few years old and none
applying to my machine.

I would really prefer not to play with ndiswrapper (if possible)
This is a minor problem however annoying one. "

I won't post here all the detailed info since the starter of this bug
did it rather nicely....any way I will attach the hard info printout
