## Issue * wackamole does not start at system boot * wackamole init script startup fails with "Cannot write PID file" ## Environment * working wackamole / spread configuration * Lucid 10.04.2 * /var/run/ mounted as tmpfs ## Root Cause /var/run/wackamole is created at dpkg install time. /var/run is tmpfs, however, and the directory disappears on reboot. ## Resolution Adding the following lines to /etc/init.d/wackamole before daemon start resolves this issue: test -d /var/run/$NAME || mkdir /var/run/$NAME See patch. ## Diagnostic Steps 1. install wackamole and spread 2. setup configuration so that it works as expected 3. reboot 4.
