Same here on a EeePC 1005P and a Dell Inspiron 1011 (both netbooks). A
very confusing bug... The only way I found to restore the screen is to
suspend and resume, but it does not always work; in order to do this,
you have to "blindly" unlock the screensaver first (type your password,
hit enter and hope it'll work).

In 10.10, it worked like a charm.

  failure to come out of hibernate in 11.04, I get black screen with
  some color at the top.. ubuntu 10.10 worked fine coming out of
  hibernate.
