Thanks for responding. On the second attempt, The available HD space is further reduced, some of 11.04 had been installed by the first attempt, but nothing in GRUB.
However, the second time, the installation continues a little further than the first time. The world map is displayed and the progress bar underneath it reads "almost finishing copying files". Then comes an error window, "installation Failed" - [Errno 5] input/output error. It would appear some files on my installation USB stick are corrupted. This time, 11.04 appears to load but with no Network-Manager to enable internet access. A window appears asking if I want to report the error, followed by one saying "Sorry, the program "ubiquity-dm" closed unexpectedly. That problem can also be reported - but leads to Network problem - Cannot connect to crash database, please check your internet connection.<urlopen [Errno 2] Name or service not known I managed to extract the two files to a second computer, see attached. Hope this helps. Richard On Fri, 2011-05-27 at 18:17 +0000, Phillip Susi wrote: > Can you manage to reproduce this and open this bug in the web browser > and attach those files?
