I am also affected by this bug. I have no touchpad tab in the mouse
preferences settings. The cursor sometimes jumps erratically. I am now
using the python script in #41 of

So far, so good.

Hardware: DELL Latitude 6510, Intel GPU, full HD panel.

Linux: Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit. Kernel: 2.6.38-8.
