This initial bug report (kudos to the bug reporter for bothering) is about an upgrade. I can report the problem is the same with a new Natty install. I have removed "quiet splash" and run 'update-grub'. Still have the problem.
Used the solution for past versions. Added 'acpi=force' , updated grub and that works. Would prefer a better solution. Love that 90 days after validating the importance is undecided and it remains unassigned.
