Hi Sebastien, Thanks for looking at this.
Less than 1 week after I submitted this bug report, I upgraded to 11.04, & no longer have this problem. Do you still want me to try & do something about this? If so, I need some guidance. I appreciate that the following is probably not in your area. Can you suggest what I should do about it? I do have a different problem (#778864), so I thought that I would try the backtrace suggestion in your post & load the debug tools. However, when I used the terminal & followed the instruction, there were errors with synaptic's reload: W: Failed to fetch http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/dists/natty-updates/Release Unable to find expected entry 'deb/binary-i386/Packages' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file) E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead. I looked in synaptic & noticed that all 3 of the debs were on a single entry. Thinking that this was the problem, I re-entered them individually, using the repository GUI. Again I received error messages. Unfortunately, I moved on without saving these messages. So I replaced the "$(lsb_release -cs)" with natty; the result is below. Failed to fetch http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/dists/natty-updates/Release Unable to find expected entry 'main/source/Sources' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file) Failed to fetch http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/dists/natty-security/Release Unable to find expected entry 'main/source/Sources' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file) Failed to fetch http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/dists/natty-proposed/Release Unable to find expected entry 'main/source/Sources' in Release file (Wrong sources.list entry or malformed file) Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead. I also looked at my problem package in synaptic. The operational package has a different version to the debug package: mythtv-common 2.0.24.0+ fixes 20110514 (etc) mythtv-common-dbgsym 2.0.24.0+ fixes 20110416 So when I tried to install the debug package, it failed.
