Public bug reported: Hi
I have a fresh Feisty installation and few days ago I was checking what services are starting as default. I unchecked the bluetooth, I checked the hdparm and the alsa-utils. Well, what happened is that I had no sound at all! The funny thing is that bringing everything back to the default configuration and rebooting didn't make any difference: still no sound! Also, the hotkeys "mute" "volume-up" "volume-down" were perfectly working: the bar pops up and it seems I can adjust the volume but again no sound. Also when I pressed these hotkeys a new type of icon (rather big) appears. I checked my alsa mixer and everything seems fine. Then I started googoling around and I found this thread: http://tech.kiawin.com/2007/04/issue...-thinkpad.html that was describing a similar problem. First I reinstalled alsa-utils with hdparm enabled and still no sound. Then I disabled hdparm, reinstalled alsa-utils and the sound is back! Now I have alsa-utils and hdparm starting at boot up and the sound is fine. I have no idea if this makes any sense at all! ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- feisty: alsa problem after hdparm activation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/109473 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
