I also miss the popup showing the wlan power! Opening a terminal and typing 'ifconfig' when video streaming stutters to check why is not "for human beings", is it?
I don't prefer Linux because it's cheaper than MacOS, but because it is open in many ways: its source as well as its system state! It makes me sad to see that Ubuntu recently favors a questionable "information hiding". A real challenge would be to show system details, without complicating the simple use-cases.
