Yes, I agree that the workaround is uggly.

I can not reproduce it here:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ vmplayer
/usr/lib/vmware-player/bin/vmplayer: 
/usr/lib/vmware-player/lib/libpng12.so.0/libpng12.so.0: no version information 
available (required by /usr/lib/libcairo.so.2)

Nevertheless:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ grep lionel /etc/passwd
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

Do you have a home directory with write permissions on it ? It seems
that the problem is linked with writing something.

Does somebody from VMware has an idea ?
