Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I had Firefox configured as my default browser on Ubuntu 10.04.

I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 through the update manager, and Google Chrome
became the default browser without ever asking me whether to keep the
old preference or accept the new one. All user preferences should be
preserved, and for any one that is recommended to be overwritten the
user should be prompted whether to keep or change.

During the upgrade process I was asked a few times regarding some
configuration files, whether to keep my old settings or rewrite them
with new default ones, but I ALWAYS chose "keep"; also, none of them
looked like anything related to the browser.
