I think I see a way that this could have failed. If there is no /var/lib/eucalyptus/db when the upgrade is started then I think the postinst will fail this way.
So, I have 2 questions a.) did you have data that you were expecting to be ugpraded? Ie, was this more than just a test? If so, can you give output of 'find /var/backups/eucalyptus/' b.) is there anything that you may have done that might have caused a funny state prior to upgrade? If you're just looking to get through the upgrade, I think you might be able to do so by: sudo mkdir /var/lib/eucalyptus/db sudo apt-get -f install ** Changed in: eucalyptus (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/792746 Title: package eucalyptus-java-common 2.0.1 bzr1256-0ubuntu4.1 failed to install/upgrade: Unterprozess installiertes post-installation-Skript gab den Fehlerwert 1 zurück To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eucalyptus/+bug/792746/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
