I have a Lenovo ThinkPad x201 running the 32-bit 2.6.38-8-generic-pae kernel. I get "freezes" on wakeup from both hibernate and suspend, especially if the Laptop was suspended while on its base station.
I can get around the "freeze" by typing in my password blindly (security nuts, go wild here) and switching back and forth to a text console (Ctrl-Alt-F1/Ctrl-Alt-F7). I should, perhaps, also note that I use external monitors. Sometimes just opening and closing the laptop does it for me, as I have it set up to _not_ suspend on close.
