Our apologies for taking so long to get back to you.  Ubuntu bug triage
is handled mainly by volunteers, and sadly, not all packages get a lot
of attention all the time.

I suspect this to be a compatibility problem with xemacs21.  If you
still have this problem, and don't require xemacs21, uninstalling that
is probably a feasible workaround.

Which xemacs21 variant are you running?  I am asking because of
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=312829
