Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

When I start ubuntu, the CPU is showing 80-90% use just at an idle
desktop. If I open an application then the CPU is always jumping to
100%--which makes doing things very slow. At idle desktop, the Processes
in the System Monitor are all showing 0% CPU usage. Yet my CPU is
showing between 80-90% under Resources at idle.
