Same problem here. Fresh install of Xubuntu 11.04 on an Acer Aspire 3620 laptop with AR2413 wireless (wireless worked flawlessly on previous versions of Xubuntu). After booting, or when I disable and then re- enable networking with the Network Manager applet, access points are only sporadically detected:
djb@DJB-Aspire-3620:~$ sudo iwlist scanning lo Interface doesn't support scanning. eth0 Interface doesn't support scanning. wlan0 No scan results If I move the laptop to within a few feet of my router and wait a few seconds, however, it unfailingly detects the access point (as well as about a dozen others scattered around the neighborhood!!) and connects. I can then return it to its normal location in another room (about 30 feet away from the router) and everything works swimmingly. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/775104 Title: Kernel 2.6.38.8: ath5k driver wireless signal strength critically weak To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/775104/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
