We generally try to use backports for features, not bugfixes. For bugfixes we have the SRU process (http://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates).
In this particular case, it doesn't seem like it's too hard to find the patch that fixed the bug. If we filter out the autogoo changes between version 1.4.2 and 1.4.3, we get the attached diff. I suspect the first two hunks are the important ones. I've taken that patch and uploaded it to my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~broder/+archive/ubuntu-tests). Can you please test that package and let us know if it fixes the bug? (I would test it myself, but I wasn't able to reproduce it on my machine) ** Patch added: "1.4.2_to_1.4.3.diff" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hardware-monitor/+bug/608904/+attachment/2165939/+files/1.4.2_to_1.4.3.diff -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/608904 Title: [needs-packaging] Please update to version 1.4.3 - contains a critical crash fix To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hardware-monitor/+bug/608904/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
