This problem is also affecting me, it seams to me that the problem is
within the graphics, I believe this because while the screen was frozen
I pressed the key on my laptop that disables the wireless network card,
and when I rebooted the machine, the wireless networking was disabled.
Also, I noticed this on a second occasion, while I had a video loading
and paused, I went to unpause the video and I could hear the sounds
coming out of the speakers, but the screen would never change. I am
having this issue after upgrading from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04. Please let
me know if there is anything else that I can do.
