Yes, reverting the change in kernel/power/main.c introduced with commit
9185cfa92507d07ac787bc73d06c42222eec7239 seems to fix this. If I
understand this correctly, switching off using "platform mode" instead
of "shutdown" does not work correctly at least on my Thinkpad T60. Maybe
there are some hardware or BIOS related problems involved, as I have to
*completely* remove power (including  battery!) to bring back any sound.
Is someone with connection to LKML involved with this bugreport and
willing to report this issue upstream?
