Seems like Unity is crashing. Could you log into Unity, and when you get a blank desktop, press Ctrl+Alt+F2, login there on the text console, and type >> cp .xsession-errors xsession-errors-for-bug << , then type >> sudo service gdm restart << and login to Classic Desktop, and then attach the xsession-errors-for-bug file found in your home directory, to this bug?
