I would think the post above this (by Pascal) is a different bug, and one that I'm experiencing at the moment. I am using NetworkManager to automatically grab an IP address through DHCP for 99% of the network connectivity I need. Occasionally I'll need a static IP and that's when I'll open up network-admin, select properties of my wired connection and click the box to 'Enable this connection' (in other words get network- admin to handle the configuration.
The problem happens when I'm finished with the static IP and I want NetworkManager to control the interface... network-admin will not stop controlling the interface since this check box labeled "Enable this Connection' will not go unchecked after being checked. The only solution is to manually edit /etc/network/interfaces to take out all lines relating to eth0, then kill and restart the NetworkManger process. The best solution may very will be to add static IP address configuration functionality to NetworkManger (and not use network-admin at all), but another possiblity is to just fix the problem with the network-admin checkbox and continue to use two applications to do one job. -- [network-admin] 'Enable this connection' option in network settings is redundant https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/23660 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
