I see. You are right, "Ctrl+T" do save the current settings (except for
the window size though).

I think this is not intuitive at all. Am I the only one to think so?

I'm wondering if the behaviour should not be the opposite: dont show the
panel by default. Or automatically display it only for documents with
more than N pages (and possibly a configuration setting for N).

Another question is, is PDF viewing an activity mostly done with
different files (in which case the settings should be global), or are
the files opened almost always the same (and then the current default is
probably right).
