I can confirm Stephan's observation. (Kile Version 2.0.85)
And maybe I can contribute with two other observations of mine.

(1) When encountering the issue, changing the dictionary from "English
(UK)" to "English (US)" fixes the problem. Reverting to the UK
dictionary brings back the problem, the only solution being, eventually,
closing the files and restarting Kile.

(2) This happens when opening a Kile project file previously saved on
another machine (same Kile version though).

me@machine1:~$ kile --version
Qt: 4.7.0
KDE Development Platform: 4.5.3 (KDE 4.5.3)
Kile: 2.0.85

me@machine2:~$ kile --version
Qt: 4.7.2
KDE Development Platform: 4.6.2 (4.6.2)
Kile: 2.0.85
