Is the problem that the indicators appear but you are unable to interact
with them, or is the problem that the indicators do not appear at all?

Also, please open a Terminal window and run "apport-collect 781491",
then visit this bug page and make sure that information was
automatically attached and that the tag "apport-collected" was
automatically added. If a file called XSessionErrors.txt was not
attached, please manually attach the file .xsession-errors (located
inside your home directory). To render this file easily accessible for
attaching, you can run "cp ~/.xsession-errors
~/Desktop/XSessionErrors.txt" (without the quotes) in a Terminal window,
which will create a file called XSessionErrors.txt on your desktop that
you can attach. In either case, please indicate whether the attached
XSessionErrors.txt file was from before or after you ran "unity
--replace" since logging in.

Please also verify that this is taking place in a 3D Unity session, and
not a unity-2d session. (If you are running Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal,
then you would know if it were happening in a unity-2d session, since
you would have had to have manually installed unity-2d.)

After providing the information requested above, please feel free to
change this bug's status back from Incomplete to New.

In the future, I recommend carefully reading
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs before reporting bugs in
Ubuntu--this provides highly useful advice about what kind of
information is important to include in a bug report and how best to
include it.
