Hm, seems like this but was my fault somehow. Some time ago i install feisty herd 5 and went with the upgrades to feisty final releas.
I then bought another graphiccard (the old one os an ati) and messed a lot around with the nvidia-glx* drivers and the binary drivers from nvidia. Seems like mixing them wasnt good. I reinstalled feisty and choose the binary driver from nvidia, now i can switch to some other users. Seems like i cant help u with this bug anymore, but i'll try hard to reproduce it again.
