Public bug reported: I'm running Oneiric, and currently doing careful partial upgrades to avoid the /run chaos until it settles down a bit more. This morning, I upgraded lightdm and lightdm-greeter-example-gtk from 0.4.1-0ubuntu1 to 0.4.3-0ubuntu1, and rebooted. When I clicked on my username in an attempt to log in, the greeter froze, and there was this line at the end of /var/log/lightdm/lightdm.log:
WARNING: Unknown message from greeter: 7 Eventually I noticed that I had yet to upgrade liblightdm-gobject-0-0, which was still at version 0.4.1-0ubuntu1. I upgraded this to 0.4.3-0ubuntu1, stopped and restarted lightdm, and it started working again. This should not have been required. If lightdm-greeter-example-gtk requires a more recent version of liblightdm-gobject-0-0, it should have an explicit versioned dependency on it. ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium Assignee: Robert Ancell (robert-ancell) Status: Triaged -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/809776 Title: needs tighter dependency on liblightdm-gobject-0-0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/809776/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
