Public bug reported:

System fails to resume after suspend (either while plugged in or running
on full battery power). When I open the laptop after suspending, the
keyboard lights up & fan is spinning, but the screen is blank. For a
brief moment, there is a login request in the upper left corner (it
lasts for maybe half a second). The keypad does not respond (at least,
not in any visible way - the caps lock light does not turn on/off when
the button is pressed), pressing the power button does nothing (there is
no suspend button). A hard shutdown (by holding the power button) is
the only current solution.

I have tried:

Editing /etc/default/grub. Added "acpi_sleep=nonvs" to arguments of
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX
and
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
followed by sudo update-grub

Installed hibernate package:
sudo apt-get hibernate

Checked for latest BIOS, but it is current (A08)

Upgraded to newer kernel (from 2.6.38-8-generic):
sudo apt-get update
apt-cache showpkg linux-headers
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.38-10 linux-headers-2.6.38-10-generic
linux-image-2.6.38-10-generic --fix-missing

Unbinding (and re-binding on resume) suggested at
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11007955&postcount=15

None of these attempts fixed the problem. And just in case it's not
included in the bug report, I'm using 11.04 (Natty) on a Dell XPS 15z
with an i7-2620 and 8 GB RAM. Thanks in advance for any info.
