Public bug reported: Hi, I'm on a Quanta MW1 based laptop and I've got the same problem as many people, but I've done some workaround about the shutdown problem:
With ubuntu (dapper 6.06.1) just installed (no direct rendering), hibernate works and shutdown works with "sudo halt -h", but you only have to install the nvidia-glx and everything crashes: impossible to turn off the laptop and hibernate also doesn't work (supposing everyone know how to fix the console bug adding "vga=791" to the grub-menu kernel options). I've tried almost all options noapic, nolapic, acpi=force and nothing works. I don't know if this could be helpfull, but that's everything I've found. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- shutdown, hibernate and nvidia https://launchpad.net/bugs/56798 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
