** Description changed: With both 6.06 LTS and 6.10, the above WiFi cards have worked automatically with native drivers--no ndiswrapper needed. They are both in the WiFi wiki as being supported in Ubuntu Dapper and above. Now with my new install of 7.04, neither of them work. With a "ifconfig" or "iwconfig", nothing shows up, except for the loopback adapter. In 7.04, a "lspci" for the WPC 11 shows the same info as for 6.10 given below. A "uname" command in 7.04 obviously gives the default kernel. With 6.10, the WPC 11 (which is a pc card) reports after a "lspci": 06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8180L 802.11b MAC (rev 20) With the USB adapter, in 6.10 all I get with a "lsusb" command is: Bus 001 Device 003: ID 077b:2219 Linksys WUSB11 V2.6 802.11b Adapter So, I don't know what driver it is using in 6.10. But, I can say for sure that I am very frustrated that they won't even be detected, let alone work, in 7.04 I've searched ubuntuforums.org and tried Google, and a lot of people have this problem (you might want to sneek a peek--there are lots of problems with network-manager and folks seem to be having better luck with wicd: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=414594&highlight=linksys+wpc11 plus others). Because I cannot use Feisty, I uninstalled it and cannot provide additional "lspci" or "lsusb" info. + + Please see posts 4 & 5, below, for further information. The WPC11 v. 4 + bug seems to have been picked up by another bug report. The focus of + this report should be shifted to WUSB 11. v 2.6, and I've included the + only additional info for the kernel devs that I could (uname) since + plugging in the adapter before booting causes a kernel panic and after + booting causes a hard freeze that requires a power cycle reset.
