Something about the same.
I am not able to shutdown or restart properly without switching acpi off.
When I switch it off, strange things happen.
Gnome shuts down and strangely I find myself in the recovery-start-up-menu 
which allows me to chose between normal start-up, start-up with checking the 
file system and so on.
I'm Using an Acer 8930G and Ubuntu 11.04.
Btw: Hibernating works with acpi on.
