I see, this might be the problem then - sorry about not mentioning this. I installed Lubuntu using the regular "Ubuntu 11.04 i386 alternative" ISO and selected "install a command-line system" in the boot menu. After the command-line-system was installed, I issued "apt-get install lubuntu-desktop".
