Unfortunately the license (those small printed letters you need to agree) of the Canon drivers do not allow us to include these drivers into Ubuntu.
But fortunately these kind of business machines usually support multiple printer languages, with some input from you we could consider adding this printer to the foomatic-db with what you (after some testing) think is the best open/free licensed driver. By doing this your printer will be automatically detected in future Ubuntu versions. I looked up the specifications of the ir3035 on the canon website and this model should support PCL 6/5e using the UFR II/PCL Printer Kit-S1 board with optional PS Printer Kit-S1 for PostScript 3 Emulation. If you have the optional PS kit, you should be able to use the PPD file from Canon (or Generic > PostScript). If you don't have the PS kit please try the different PCL 6/5e drivers offered under the manufacturer "Generic". Especially try the PCL-6/XL printer with "Foomatic/pxlmono" and the PCL-5e printer with "Foomatic/hpijs-pcl5e". Which driver gives the best print quality and which the best printing speed and does it offer you all the printing options you need? How do these compare to the original Canon driver? ** Changed in: cups (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/817993 Title: Provide drivers for Canon ir3035 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/817993/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
