Public bug reported:

Hi,

Thanks for any help you can provide, and for fixing this ASAP.

System completely freezes (with numerous hard disk filesystem
corruptions) only on kernel 2.6.32-33-generic, every time I right-click
and "Safely remove" Seagate model 9SF2A4-500 external 1TB USB drive.

Don't think it happens to simple USB memory sticks, but not willing to
further corrupt my system just to find out.

NOTE: Was running kernel 2.6.32-32-generic when I ran the "ubuntu-bug
linux" that started =this= report. Do not have this problem with 32-32.

Get exactly the same behaviour on both my desktop and laptop Intel
32-bit systems. Both have Ubuntu 10.4.2 and the same two kernel
versions.

I run System > Update Manager daily.

Have endured this for a couple weeks, expecting others more
knowledgeable to report it, and a patch to the Kernel to be distributed.

Happy to answer further questions, but you will have to email me at
carl (dot) turney (at) orcon (dot) net (dot) nz
as I don't see any bug report ID # here, and not sure I can navigate back to
the correct web page.

Thanks again,
Carl
