https://help.ubuntu.com/10.10/printing/C/printing.html and all the other documentation does not mention the following procedure for printers that have already been added: System Settings->Printing Right click on the icon of a printer "Enabled" should be checked. Sometimes "Shared" should be checked.
The enabled and shared checkboxes may not have been there when the document was originally authored.
