new info : earphones connected through a jack plug work ! so it's not a question of sound cardm but a question of being able to send the sound to the speakers. I can't wear earphones all the time. Tried all possible things in alsamixer (and gnome-alsamixer) but it did not change anything. In alsamixer, the "Speaker" column is not mute, but I cannot change its level value, which is zero.
