There is no need to install all updates of your breezy system - the updates are only of the breezy and not the dapper circle.
Step 3 is fine. You can proceed with step 4. but before you reboot you should run "sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop" to ensure that a working desktop is installed. Please keep in mind, that this system is for bug tracking and not support questions.
