Public bug reported:

I didn't have unity installed thus no gir1.2-unity-3.0 and update-
manager crashed.

update-manager
ERROR:root:Could not find any typelib for Unity
WARNING:root:can not import unity GI cannot import name Unity
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/update-manager", line 108, in <module>
    app = UpdateManager(data_dir, options)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/UpdateManager/UpdateManager.py", line
278, in __init__
    self.install_backend = backend.get_backend(self.window_main)
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/UpdateManager/backend/__init__.py",

 line 23, in __init__
    self.unity = UnitySupport()
TypeError: __init__() takes exactly 2 arguments (1 given)

To fix the issue i installed gir1.2-unity-3.0 but i don't think update-
manager should depend on unity to run.

** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
