Tim: There's not quite enough information in that snippet to work out whether the driver used your xorg.conf sync ranges - it would be helpful to see the complete Xorg.log. There is a variation of this bug which people have solved using a more brutal workaround though. Could you spin off a new bug report and post a link from this bug towards it?
