Can you attach your cups error_log, with debugging enabled, when trying
to print with the Foomatic/hl1250 (recommended) driver as described
here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems#CUPS_error_log,
you can set up a second printer with this driver to keep your working
solution. This will give us more information about the error(s) that
occur.
Please also note that the Brother driver for your printer has already
been packed in Ubuntu in the brother-cups-wrapper-laser package in
multiverse, you just need to install this package.
