Public bug reported:

Natty 32-bit
Oneiric 64-bit

Hello i recently bought an other pc. its a pentium D 2.8.
It had a X300 graphic card in it. (open source ATI driver).
I experienced random hangs of the system.
The system becomes unusable. The screen doesn't update (clock stays the same
time)
I can't move the mouse and keyboard doesn't work (reisub also not)
Also pressing the on off button once does not trigger the usual screen to
shutdown.
I don't have wireless so that can't be the cause.
The fan starts spinning and it is like the processor is at 100% bussy.
After 10 minuts or so the pc returns to its normal state and responds.
If i look in the logs there is nothing special in there. Nothing is recorded
for that period.
Its like the time is skipped.

The only thing i can see is that clocksource changes to acpi_pm instead of tsc.
but with that boot argument it also freezes.
And if it freezes for the second time it mostly shuts down the pc. (maybe
overheating precaution?)

I thought it had to do something with the graphical card. because when i watch
some videos on youtube it seem like it occurs more rapid.
Therefore i changed the graphical card and put in a geforce7300. But the
problem remains.
Under windows it has not froze.

I also tried setting boot arguments:
not all at the same time:
acpi=off, noacpi
clocksource=acpi_pm
nohz=off

but non of them works.
I've searched already in launchpad and the internet but i can't find anything
like mine.
Most can still move the cursor or have problems with the wireless card.
I also tried natty with a 3.0 kernel but the problem still exists.
I've also tried the classic no effects login but it also freezes.
Oneiric also freezes.
also tried the x edgers ppa also froze.
with acpi=off as boot parameter the videos only plays for 3 seconds and than
the video (flash) (not the pc) freezes and the sound loops.
I have no idea what i can do next.
Somebody knows?
