foomatic-filters can never ever break access to the USB ports. It does
not touch them at all. foomatic-filters does nothing more than calling
Ghostscript to convert PostScript or PDF input into the printer's native
language. If the printer is USB-connected, CUPS takes care to send the
data to the USB.

Please follow the instructions in the section "USB printer" on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems. If not only printers
but also other USB devices are not accessible any more, see also
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures for further instructions.

** Package changed: foomatic-filters (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu)
