Hi Amit,
Thank you for testing and reporting. We have some work to do with this bug.
 * 1st, I need to check if the problem actually comes from synaptics driver, so
please Alt+F2 and enter 'apport-collect 833840'(Of course without quotes :D).
 * 2nd: Did the command '$ gconftool-2 --set --type boolean
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled true' enable it?
would you please check if that command really did set the value, using
'gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled' what
does it reply? 'true' OR 'false' ? if 'false' please use the first command to
set it again.
 * 3rd: Please enter this command into your terminal: 'cat
/proc/bus/input/devices > ~/Desktop/devices.txt' and attach the 'devices.txt'
file from your Desktop to this E-Mail/Report.
 * 4th: What does 'synclient -l' reply?

Thanks and happy Debugging :)
