Sorry I misunderstood your surname with middle names. That highlights
the fact that in in general we have a number of people with double
surnames (like  Rhys Jones, Kamstrup Erlandsen, García Rodríguez)
depending on language and culture.

Shortname is an interesting proposition. Sounds simpler than a complex
truncation algorithm that still might mess up peoples names (not good).
That way people also have control over the presentation.

I'll ask Robert if and how we can support that.
