I can confirm this bug still being present in Feisty, although it manifested itself only after a while. Feisty is installed here from a clean Kubuntu install, after which the ubuntu-desktop package was installed and gdm+gnome+metacity became the default environment (the reason why I installed it like this is IMHO irrelevant to this bugreport, however if anyone wants to know I'll happily elaborate).
First I thought this problem had something to do with the desktop effects I had enabled, but turning them off didn't fix the problem. Renaming any .gtk* files in my home dir and then shutting down the OOo quickstarter did fix the problem. It seems that these .gtk* files are generated after a while and are causing problems. Which program/proces creates these files and why? My desktop seems to be happy without them (as a matter of fact, it seems to be better off without them!), so why generate them in the first place?
