Public bug reported:

My Compaq Presario 2500 does not recognize the existence of a battery.
I first noticed this when I unplugged my laptop for the first time after
a fresh install. The Gnome Power Manager continues to show that it is
plugged in. I tried to investigate further.

The output from acpi -V:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ acpi -V
     Thermal 1: ok, 5.0 degrees C
  AC Adapter 1: on-line

This seems to show a problem with acpi, because my laptop always has run
much hotter than 5 C. The Device Manager also indicates that a battery
is not present.

I'm far from a linux expert, but if you could tell me what other info
would be helpful I'd be happy to track it down.

** Affects: acpi (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
