This is not a bug exactly... but I don't know how to ask for  a feature
request... perhaps going "up" to debian would be a more appropiate
place.

I was just reading an article of someone "complaining" about the massive
options available to someone who just wants to install a "text editor"
or a "medias player". How about being able to see how popular a package
is among the repositories? That sounds like quite a change in the apt
package management... but it could ease choosing the right package (at
least the most popular) instead of looking at the 50 different packages
available for each task. A colored bar in synaptic could be a hint.

Just a thought.
