The bug also affects me, but in a different manner. 
In fact on my hardware, the VT6656_stage driver is recognised since 10.10 
(32bit). tested 11.04 and 11.10 (alpha2).
However, only in Maverick the wifi-card does connect to Wlans (but that 
reliably if using no stronger than WPA/TKIP. WPA2/AES fails reliably;). 
Since 11.04 no successful handshake has been possible. The default 
networkmanager does show the list though. 
I am not very technically minded, but what i understand of the logs from 11.10 
and the router, the handshake fails at a later stage (in my case; 
wpa_supplicant?).
