Thanks for the suggestion, Reuben. The current breakdown that I see
in the track information dialog for ratings is:
1.0 - Awful
1.5 - Barely Tolerable
2.0 - Tolerable
2.5 - Okay
3.0 - Good
3.5 - Very good
4.0 - Excellent
4.5 - Amazing
5.0 - Favorite

I think the purpose of the stars is more a personal rating than
anything else, and the stars can be used to mean whatever you'd like
them to. I think the Amarok developers just included these quick
vocalized ratings not really as a definitive list but a guide for
users to consider what they should rate their music. If you were to
change the ratings, what would they be?
