I have the same problem using Feisty. However, I think this problem is
hardware related (poor electrostatic shielding of the pad especially on
the iBook) and wonder if this can be handled by the software completely.
I experience similar problems in Mac OS X, by the way.

There is a remark on the appletouch site, http://www.popies.net/atp/,
indicating that the touchpad is very sensitive towards temperature
changes and the drivers tries to handle that already. I don't know if
that could be improved anyhow.
