I still think that there is no reason to deny users the freedom to customize their desktop. For now, I suggest to allow users to put the launcher at any border of the screen and to be able to enable/disable the auto-hide function. I haven't tested Unity with multiple monitors, but I think that the global menu will also be an issue.
